Solubility / thinnability
Bayhytherm® 3146 can be diluted with water, esters,
ketones, alcohols, glycols and glycol ethers.
However, the solutions formed must be tested for their
storage stability.
Compatibility Bayhytherm® 3146 is compatible with Bayhydrol® E 270, U
241, UH 2621 and Bayhytherm® VP LS 2153; with blocked
polyurethane dispersions such as Bayhydur® BL 5140, VP LS
2310 and Bayhydur® BL XP 2706 and also with amino resins
such as Cymel® 303, 328, 3701) and Maprenal® MF 9042).
However, the compatibility of the combinations used should
always be tested.

Properties / Applications
Bayhytherm® 3146 is used for the formulation of waterborne,
one-component baking systems such as waterborne fillers or
general purpose industrial coatings. Coating films based
on Bayhytherm® 3146 exhibit extraordinary impact strength,
adhesion and overcoatability. Bayhytherm® 3146 can also be
used as an additive to conventional waterborne stoving
systems to improve flexibility, impact strength and
adhesion.
The product is characterized by greater reactivity and
better pigment wetting and thermal stability than the
self-curing Bayhytherm® VP LS 2153. Because it is easier
to dilute, it also offers advantages with respect to the
solids content and filling power of the coating systems at
spray viscosity.
Typical curing parameters are 30 min at 130 °C. The
product exhibits overbaking stability up to 120 min at 190
°C. Slight thermal yellowing may occur depending on the
baking temperature and time.
Storage -Storage in original sealed Bayer MaterialScience container.
-Recommended storage temperature: 5 - 23 °C.
-Protect from frost, heat and foreign material.
General information: The product is sensitive to frost.
Freezing will damage the product irreversibly. Prolonged
storage at higher temperatures may result in a decrease
of viscosity and/or an increase of average particle size,
possibly resulting in sedimentation or coagulation.
Storage time Bayer MaterialScience represents that, for a period of
three months following the day of shipment as stated in
the respective transport documents, the product will meet
the specifications or values set forth in section
"specifications or characteristic data" above, what ever
is applicable, provided that the product is stored in
full compliance with the storage conditions set forth in
and referenced under section "storage" above and is
otherwise handled appropriately.
The lapse of the three months period does not necessarily
mean that the product no longer meets specifications or
the set values. However, prior to using said product,
Bayer MaterialScience recommends to test such a product
if it still meets the specifications or the set values.
Bayer MaterialScience does not make any representation
regarding the product after the lapse of the three
months period and Bayer MaterialScience shall not be
responsible or liable in any way for the product failing
to meet specifications or the set values after the lapse
of the three months period.
